Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aSystems Engineerto join the team inUnion, OH. This role will d esign, develop, support, and maintain the organization's systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. The Systems Engineer will make updates to system related installation documentation, perform end-user support, evaluate all continuous improvement activities, and implement plans to optimize performance and processes. They will employ Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives.

What Will You Do?

Systems Engineering in Distribution

n
    n
  • n

    Analyze, design, and optimize complex operational systems that support warehouse functions, including inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, labor planning, and throughput optimization.

    Map and model end-to-end distribution processes, identifying interdependencies and failure points across systems, equipment, data flows, and human interfaces.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Develop and implement system configurations and process logic that align with distribution strategies such as wave picking, slotting optimization, cross-docking, and demand-driven replenishment.

  • n
  • n

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable and resilient systems that accommodate fluctuating order volumes, seasonal demand, and SKU complexity.

    Identify opportunities to automate workflows and reduce manual tasks using technology.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Leverage simulation tools and data modeling to forecast system performance and guide infrastructure or process changes.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

    n
  • n

    Lead Lean and Six Sigma projects targeting key performance metrics such as pick rate/productivity, order accuracy/quality, dock-to-stock, and on-time shipments.

    Conduct time studies, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis to identify waste and process bottlenecks.

  • n
  • n

    Facilitate cross-functional Kaizen events to drive measurable improvements in warehouse layout, labor productivity, and material flow.

  • n

    Develop and track KPIs to support a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Partner with safety and quality teams to integrate improvements that enhance workplace safety and compliance.

  • n

    Execute on productivity and cost savings projects year over year.

Qualifications

n

Education:

n
    n
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field.
  • n
n

Experience:

n
    n
  • n

    3+ years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment with a focus on systems and process improvement.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience with WMS/TMS platforms (e.g., Manhattan, SAP EWM, Blue Yonder) and ERP integration.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Lean Six Sigma certification preferred (Green Belt or higher).

    n
  • n
n

Preferred Skills:

    Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, and SQL.

  • n
  • n

    Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • n

    Comfortable working on the warehouse floor to observe and understand operational challenges firsthand.

  • n

    Experience with automation technologies (e.g., conveyor systems, AS/RS, pick-to-light, voice picking).

    Knowledge of OSHA and warehouse safety practices.

  • n

    Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • n

    Multi-level communication skills; works with hourly associates and senior leaders.
