Minimum Qualifications:
nHigh School or equivalent. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program. CPR Certification required.

nTo provide technical, supportive, age specific and developmentally appropriate patient care functions for assigned clinical area.
nnnnnnnnnJob Duties:

- Assists with patient flow within assigned outpatient clinic setting. n
- Responds in a timely manner to call-lights. n
- Provides comfort measures to patient / family. n
- Performs technical and supportive patient care skills, incorporating the patient's plan of care and following approved policy and procedure. n
- Obtains vital signs. Appropriately documents chief complaint and reason for visit. n
- Uses aseptic techniques and infection control measures in the performance of duties. n
- Accurately collects excretory specimens, such as urine and feces. n
- Obtains blood samples by venipuncture. n
- Accurately performs tests, such as basic urine chemistry using chemical strips, guaiac, Ph, blood glucose, UPT, and hemocult. n
- Measures and records intake and output as ordered. n
- Prepares and assists patients undergoing treatments, examinations, and procedures. n
- Recognizes patient care priorities, treatment plan, objectives, and potential crisis. n
- Under direction of physician, provides other treatments and care to patients appropriate to training, as assigned. n
- Recognizes and communicates patient needs and unusual occurrences with patients / families. n
- The MA will refill patient medications as requested, using the guidelines for the prescribing physician/provider in their assigned area and in accordance with the policy C51, Prescription Refill Management for Ambulatory Care Services. n
- Safely and properly administers medications as assigned. n
- Accurately documents / communicates interventions and measurements. n
- Communicates relevant information to appropriate health care provider. n
- Under supervision, completes accurate, concise, and legible documentation on patient clinic record. n
- Assist with medication reconciliation as required. n
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and the environment. n
- Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment. n
- Checks equipment / supplies for expiration dates, electrical safety tags, intactness, and usability. n
- Cleans equipment and returns to its proper place. n
- Reports equipment and supplies needing replaced or repaired. n
- Stocks rooms, carts, cabinets, etc. as assigned / requested. n
- Respects and supports patient rights. o Serves as patient / family advocate. n
- Practices principles of patient and employee confidentiality. n
- Utilizes available resources and seeks assistance in dealing with ethical dilemmas, as appropriate. n
- Practices positive customer peer relations. o Consistently communicates in a professional and courteous manner. n
- Reports and seeks assistance in dealing with guest complaints / concerns. n
- Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with patient / family and co-workers. n
- Consistently responds to customer requests / needs in an appropriate manner. n
- Participates in and supports continuous quality improvement activities at the clinic / departmental level, as appropriate. n
- Demonstrates acceptable productivity and practices cost containment. o Prioritizes and completes all work in an effective and efficient manner. n

Salary Range: Actual salary commensurate with experience.

nOn-site, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
