Our client, a leading heavy civil construction firm in the Carolinas, is actively seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to join their high-performing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to lead mid-sized NCDOT/SCDOT infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working with either large heavy civil contractors or small to mid-size subcontractors and possess a strong background in managing heavy highway construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute heavy civil construction projects according to project specifications and engineering standards.
- Manage budgets to meet margin goals, prepare accurate cost and revenue forecasts, and address variances.
- Create and maintain up-to-date, realistic project schedules.
- Ensure all work meets quality control standards and complies with engineering principles, client requirements, and company procedures.
- Enforce company safety protocols and promote a strong safety culture on-site.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and generate reports for senior leadership.
- Work closely with field teams to resolve plan discrepancies and maintain alignment with project goals.
- Approve changes to equipment, staffing, and resources in coordination with superintendents.
- Escalate critical issues to senior management and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Organize project staffing and assign roles to team members for optimal efficiency.
- Lead weekly project meetings to monitor scheduling and financial performance.
- Submit timely payment requisitions and provide ongoing financial performance updates.
- Oversee subcontractor and supplier contracts, ensuring quality and performance standards are met.
- Understand and manage contract terms, deliverables, schedules, and potential delay impacts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
