Job Summary

The Battery Storage Systems Engineer will support the design, integration, and commissioning of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for utility-scale and distributed energy projects. This associate-level role focuses on system layout, component specification, installation support, and testing of lithium-ion, flow, and hybrid storage systems in coordination with the engineering and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

    n
  • Assist in the design of battery storage layouts, cabling, enclosures, and supporting electrical infrastructure
  • n
  • Support selection and integration of inverters, battery modules, BMS, EMS, and HVAC systems
  • n
  • Review vendor specs and drawings for compatibility with site and project requirements
  • n
  • Aid in the preparation of single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring schematics, and interconnection packages
  • n
  • Collaborate with field teams during installation, testing, and commissioning
  • n
  • Monitor system performance and participate in troubleshooting efforts post-installation
  • n
  • Contribute to the development of safety plans, operational manuals, and QA/QC protocols
  • n
  • Stay updated on code requirements (NEC, NFPA 855), utility standards, and energy storage trends
  • n

Qualifications
n
    n
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Renewable Energy Systems, or related field
  • n
  • 1–3 years of experience working with energy storage, electrical systems, or renewable energy projects
  • n
  • Understanding of BESS components (lithium-ion cells, PCS, BMS, SCADA) and power conversion basics
  • n
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and use basic design tools (AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst preferred)
  • n
  • Basic knowledge of grid interconnection standards and battery safety best practices
  • n
  • Strong organizational and communication skills for team coordination and documentation
  • n

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with utility interconnection processes and incentive programs
  • n
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
  • n
  • Familiarity with microgrid or hybrid energy projects
  • n
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning or SCADA integration a plus
