JOB SUMMARY:

The Postdoctoral and Sr. Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for assigned activities in the research laboratory under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or the designee of the P.I. Duties include performing experiments in cell biology, molecular biology and immunology relating to lung injury and lung remodeling, inflammatory cytokines/chemokines and their role in disease process. The research associate should have experience in the handling of small animals, and experience with documentation of experimental data in timely fashion, and experience with inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

    n
  • Investigation of the cellular, molecular and cellular players that contribute to chronic lung diseases and lung remodeling and to develop interventional strategy.
    • n
  • Work with small animals in the preparation and analysis of epithelial cells, fibroblasts, macrophages and lymphocyte populations from lymphoid organs and the lungs by flow cytometry and functional assays.

  • Preparation of data, writing manuscripts and help the PI in preparation of grant applications.
    • n
  • General laboratory support duties—Maintenance of cell cultures, Isolation of RNA, polymerase chain reactions, preparation of DNAs including plasmid DNA, cell transfections, enzyme assays, etc.
    • n
  • Order and maintain supplies, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep of the laboratory.
    • n
  • Conduct or assist in experiments related to ongoing research projects under PI’s supervision.
    • n
  • Other duties as assigned.
