As a cornerstone in our safety architecture, you'll spearhead initiatives that ensure our operations embody integrity and innovation. Your role involves:
  • Crafting and maintaining exceptional safety programs and procedures.
  • Collaborating with leaders and safety teams to elevate safety performance.
  • Initiating and mentoring on safety training and development.
  • Conducting insightful accident investigations to foster learning and improvement.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field are preferred. Exceptions can be made for highly qualified candidates who have previously held similar roles and have extensive safety training and certifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years of safety management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the corrugated or packaging industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
  • Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
SPECIFIC Corrugated Packaging INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE (Preferred):
  • Knowledge of converting machinery and processes.
  • Prior divisional or multi-site experience.
  • Experience with safety considerations related to material handling, automated equipment, conveyors, and other equipment used in corrugated packaging facilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to travel to various manufacturing facilities - Up to 75%
  • Ability to conduct inspections in manufacturing environments, including climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Close proximity or easy travel to the following locations required: Albany GA, Austell GA, Atlanta GA, Richmond VA, Bessemer AL, Greenville SC, Nashville TN, Ocala FL, Raleigh NC, Roanoke VA, Bristol TN.
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
  • Office environment for administrative tasks.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
  • Emphasis on serious accident prevention and standardization as a primary focus.
  • Understanding of Lockout/Tagout procedures is critical.
