Position Opportunity:
Matica Biotechnology is currently offering an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated QC professional to join our team. We are looking for someone with expertise in QC Microbiology and gene and cell-based assays preferably with cell and gene therapy experience. The Microbiologist I, QC is responsible for performing environmental monitoring in cleanrooms and for supporting QC Microbiology testing and other lab operations.
How you will make an impact:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform environmental monitoring including viable, nonviable air sampling and surface contact sampling.
  • Perform utility monitoring such as compressed gases and air.
  • Perform enumeration, counting microbial colonies, report results and microbial data analysis.
  • Perform microbial characterizations and gram staining for environmental isolates.
  • Perform media growth promotion and media sterility checks.
  • Perform materials inspection and QC lab operations duties.
  • Draft material specification documents and forms.
  • Perform environmental monitoring in support of facility validation activities such as EMPQs, Air Flow Visualization studies and Aseptic Process Simulation (Media fills).
  • Participate in various special projects according to the needs of QC department and the cross departmental priorities.
  • Participate in the drafting of procedures and/or operating manual, as needed.
  • Perform gowning qualifications and re-qualifications for personnel needing access to classified manufacturing areas. Assist in aseptic technique operator qualifications.
  • Perform routine lab operations such as organization, upkeep, cleaning, & keep proper supplies.
  • Perform lab safety walk through and report any observations.
  • Communicate and work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Maintain current knowledge base of regulations, corporate policies, and industry best practices, trends, and standards to ensure Quality Control functions remain in compliance with applicable company requirements and global regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
As a future Matican You Bring:
Education
  • BS/BA or greater in sciences, preferably in microbiology, biology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or related technical field.
Experience
  • 1-2 years of Quality Control microbiology, GMP-GLP experience highly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to follow aseptic techniques and cleanroom behaviors
  • Knowledge of microbiology and biotechnology
  • Ability to follow instructions and apply principles of cGMP and GLPs
  • Must be flexible and able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments
  • Basic computer skills, data analysis and data reporting skills
