Carpenter Co. has an opening for a Process Engineer, at our Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia . This position will support our chemical manufacturing plant locations. This individual will be responsible for design, review, build and test chemical processes; including, providing design and new process development support to the chemical plants. This position will also take control of documenting the process findings and recommending improvements.
Your additional responsibilities as Process Engineer will include:
- Coordinate and manage capital projects.
- Provide technology transfer for processes from experimental scale to full production.
- Design and coordinate process-related projects with various teams.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues at Carpenter Co. and at customer sites.
- Support and improve the preventative maintenance program for new and existing equipment.
- Develop a working knowledge of new and existing equipment and communicate this knowledge in the form of written work instructions, diagrams, or visual presentations.
- Travel is required to our various plant locations and customer sites to support blending production and product users.
- BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in building processes and fixing equipment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Ability to interact well with all levels of the organization and maintain strong relationships within team members, peers and internal customers.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- 2+ years of chemical or manufacturing industry experience
- Experience operating and troubleshooting process equipment
- AUTOCAD experience
- Knowledge of ASME codes
