Senior Controls Project Engineer
Job Description
Job Duties:
• Provide direction in the methods required to configure component level devices.
• Provide direction in the methods required to perform device level testing in support of PLC commissioning and SCADA commissioning.
• Direct, document and perform area level and product running testing in support of PLC commissioning and SCADA commissioning.
• Develop and manage punch lists (software / electrical / mechanical).
• Monitor and document the progress of subcontractors.
• Provide direction to write commissioning checklist and test plans (Integrated System, Area, Zone, Section level).
• Provide direction to write Controls Functional Specification / Description of Operations.
• Write, debug, and test PLC code independently.
• Perform quality checks on-site and provide documentation of completion and status.
• Perform and document integrated system level testing for PLC and SCADA commissioning (Low Volume / High Volume test).
• Interface and coordinate with customers and subcontractors to solve issues, provide documentation of resolution.
• Write detailed design documents (i.e., Controls Architecture).
• Provide remote PLC and SCADA commissioning support and customer service.
• Monitor internal quality of controls deliverables to ensure high first pass yield.
• Manage the engineering execution, from software design, system design, network design, commissioning, and testing with a positive result contribution on technical performance and financial results.
• Ensure the quality, continuous improvement and timeliness of all Controls Project Engineering deliverables.
• Work on quotation bids with the Systems & Sales department on new projects and/or existing project changes.
• Lead, support, promote, and improve software standardization.
• Serve as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for all aspects of commissioning and testing the system.
Qualifications:
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any), Technology, or a related field of study and Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or any related occupation in which the required experience was gained. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any), Technology, or a related field of study and Five (5) years of experience, the employer will also accept a Master's degree in Engineering (any), Technology, or a related field of study AND Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained.
Position also requires demonstrated experience with the following:
• Serving as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) for aspects of commissioning and system testing;
• Leading, supporting, promoting, and improving software standardization;
• Managing the aspects of engineering execution, including software design, system design, network design, commissioning, and testing;
• Exhibiting the technical performance and financial results of a project;
