Our New Teammate
The Infrastructure Sales Engineer is our technical expert, bridging the gap between sales and engineering. You will focus on understanding customer needs and translating them into technical solutions, often working alongside sales representatives to close deals and manage projects.
You can expect to spend your time accomplishing the following:
• Business Development & Customer Engagement: Attend customer meetings as SME, develop new accounts with some travel required, participate in RFP pre-bid meetings as OSP lead for response and pricing
• Proposal & Documentation Development: Generate project SOWs and BOMs for proposal opportunities, create strong written content including SOPs, MOPs, customer policies, and white papers
• Subject Matter Expert Leadership: Serve as fiber engineering SME supporting up to 6 OSP Engineers and act as expert for Fiber Asset Management Systems (FAMS)
• Industry Knowledge & Development: Attend OSP/fiber conferences and stay current with industry trends and best practices
• Technical Problem Resolution: Address and resolve fiber path obstacles and fiber splicing obstacles as they arise
• Process Improvement: Develop new processes and methods of procedure (MOPs) to enhance operational efficiency
• Permitting & Regulatory Compliance: Manage and coordinate permit acquisition across all levels, including state/SHA, local/county, city, environmental, and site-specific permitting requirements
• Route Engineering & Design: Determine optimum fiber routes for underground and aerial installations, identify tie-in points to backbone infrastructure, determine ROW ownership, and validate utility requirements
• Utility Coordination & Applications: Identify utility pole owners, generate stick diagrams for applications, submit and manage utility application processes, and attend pre-/post-construction ride-outs with utility owners
• Inside Plant & Structured Cabling Design: Determine building points of entry, establish cable pathways to MDF locations, and identify outlet locations for structured cabling projects
• Fiber Asset Management Systems (FAMS): Demonstrate a strong understanding of web/server-based systems, workflows, and strand assignment based on network design requirements
• Fiber Splicing, Testing & Project Administration: Execute fusion splicing of loose tube and ribbon cables, perform OTDR testing and analysis, conduct power meter testing, understand DWDM/fiber characterization testing, and manage administrative functions including SOW/BOM generation, contractor quotes, material procurement, and labor requirement planning
