We are a leading civil engineering firm dedicated to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions across the region. Our team specializes in transportation and roadway design, particularly for Department of Transportation (DOT) projects. We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong background in transportation engineering and DOT standards to join our growing team.
Position Summary:
The Transportation Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, and management of roadway and highway projects for state and local DOT clients. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, cost-effective, and timely infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects including highways, roadways, and interchanges.
  • Prepare engineering reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents for DOT projects.
  • Ensure all designs are compliant with DOT standards, AASHTO guidelines, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform engineering analyses including traffic operations, horizontal and vertical alignments, and grading.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal team members including engineers, CAD technicians, and project managers.
  • Oversee junior engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Conduct field investigations and site visits as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's a plus).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering, including work on DOT projects .
  • Proficiency in transportation design software such as MicroStation, GEOPAK, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or Synchro.
  • Strong understanding of DOT design standards and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working directly with a State DOT (e.g., FDOT, TxDOT, Caltrans, etc.).
  • Familiarity with project funding, permitting, and bidding processes.
  • Experience with traffic studies and modeling software.
