Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile Senior Systems Engineer to join our Seal Beach-based IT Infrastructure team. This role demands a strong technical foundation across a diverse technology landscape, including Windows Server, on-premises Microsoft Exchange, Linux, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and major cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will be passionate about leveraging automation to enhance efficiency, adept at managing and optimizing complex hybrid environments, and skilled in executing seamless system migrations. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining the stability, performance, and security of our critical infrastructure while driving modernization initiatives.
This position ensures the systems meet design standards and guidelines. This position acts as the Bank's systems architect: identification, investigation and selection of new software and hardware solutions required to implement the technology strategies approved by management On-Prem and in the Cloud. Additionally, this position monitors, evaluates and performs diagnostics on the Bank's systems, related backups, DR systems, and other infrastructure systems. This position helps support the IT disaster recovery and related systems.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for analyzing designing, implementing, and managing cloud computing environments that combine both public cloud services (like AWS or Azure) with on-premises infrastructure, ensuring seamless data flow and application functionality across both platforms while optimizing performance, cost, and security based on specific business needs; essentially, they bridge the gap between a company's private data center and the public cloud, allowing for flexible workload distribution depending on requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Complies with all State and Federal Banking regulatory requirements, including but not limited to: BSA, Anti-Money Laundering OFAC, CIP, Financial Elder Abuse Reporting, Sexual Harassment, Information Security, and privacy requirements. This position will elevate suspicious activity to supervisory staff and/or BSA department. Completes compliance and other technical training workshops as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
- Hybrid Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, manage, and secure our hybrid infrastructure, encompassing on-premises Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, on-premises Exchange, and cloud resources (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Windows Server Expertise: Perform advanced administration, configuration, performance tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting of Windows Server environments, including deep knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Microsoft Exchange Administration: Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure on-premises Microsoft Exchange environments, ensuring reliable mail flow and availability. Contribute to planning and execution of potential messaging platform migrations (e.g., to Microsoft 365).
- Linux System Administration: Provide expert-level administration, optimization, and troubleshooting for Linux-based systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
- Automation & Efficiency: Proactively identifies automation opportunities across all platforms. Design, develop, and implement scripts and automation tools (using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, etc.) to streamline deployment, configuration management, monitoring, and operational tasks.
- Practical experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Deep expertise in Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes, with a strong foundation in containerization technologies like Docker. Familiarity with microservices architecture and associated technologies is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with Nutanix, including Prism Central and related ecosystem tools.
- Proficiency in CI/CD processes using Jenkins.

- Proficient in containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using frameworks like Terraform and GitOps.
- SRE: Execute Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) responsibilities including system availability monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and generating reliability reports for stakeholders and leadership.
- Architect scalable observability, reliability, and CI/CD frameworks to support organizational growth and operational excellence. Skilled in tools such as Honeycomb, Prometheus, Datadog, and the ELK stack.
- Lead reliability improvement initiatives with a strong understanding of service availability goals, including the impact of achieving multiple "nines" of uptime.
- Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Cluster API, and related IaC tools to automate resource provisioning, scaling, and maintenance.
- Enhance and automate alerting systems, incident detection processes, and recovery procedures to reduce downtime and improve service resilience.
- Participate in on-call rotations to meet SLA commitments, respond swiftly to incidents, and develop comprehensive runbooks for consistent incident resolution.
- Develop modular, reusable Terraform code to optimize and standardize infrastructure provisioning across environments.
- Advocate for and implement a platform engineering mindset, working collaboratively with development teams to ensure a resilient and scalable platform foundation.
- Apply strong knowledge of on-premises and cloud security best practices to enforce secure system configurations.
- Work effectively with development, networking, security, and application support teams. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

- Extensive hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments, including Active Directory expertise.
- Proven experience managing and troubleshooting on-premises Microsoft Exchange Server.
- Proficiency in scripting languages is essential for hybrid environments (e.g., PowerShell and Python/Bash).
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, SCCM, Puppet, Chef).
- Experience with unified endpoint management (UEM) platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune).
- Solid understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AOS).
- Strong understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Firewalls, Load Balancing).
- Experience implementing and utilizing comprehensive monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, SolarWinds).
- Track record of successfully planning and executing complex system/platform migrations.
- Experience migrating on-premises Exchange to Microsoft 365/Exchange Online.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies and tools.
- Experience with database administration basics (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
