Harvest Inn is home to gardens of agricultural botanicals that produce many of the ingredients on the menus of our on-property restaurant, Harvest Table.
We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team.
Our Engineers are experts at maintaining our building and equipment so that we can provide a flawless experience to our guests. They maintain and repair all mechanical equipment by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades. These trades include but are not limited to plumbing, electrical heating and air conditioning and refrigeration. They do this work while exhibiting professional and gracious service to our guests as needed. They also assist with any engineering needs related to the grounds and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains, inspects, test and repairs all mechanical areas and equipment that needs repair.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems as scheduled.
  • Regularly inspects guest room and public space and back of the house areas to repair, touch-up or replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets and hardware, filters, wall coverings, caulking, grouting and other miscellaneous repairs.
  • Regularly runs test and adds chemical to the water and sewage system including the swimming pool and spa.
  • Follow all safety, hygiene and cleanliness protocols as required.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Performs plumbing, painting and electrical work.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Completes all assigned work orders and reports results and tasks completed to the Chief Engineer.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Sets comfort zones in all meeting rooms and public space at the beginning, middle and end of the shift.
  • Issues keys and or re-keys guestroom doors.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as a grinders, cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Maintains a variety of logs and records, such as, preventative maintenance schedules and equipment and supplies used in making repairs.
  • Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
  • Logs all completed work orders and completes required inspection sheets.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Reports major repairs and items, which cannot be repaired to the Chief Engineer for further action and if necessary, place room out of order.
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.
Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of trades, including electrical , plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for the operation and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Skill in the use of related tools (including both hand and electrical tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to write routine Maintenance Reports.
  • Able to deal with a number of problems with various levels of complexity, requiring initiative and good judgement.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma is preferred. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Prior Maintenance experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid California Driver License. HVAC Certification is preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PAY SCALE
The pay scale for this position is between $23.00 and $25.00 per hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual wage rates will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience and education.
