nLife Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. nWhat You Will Do:
nThis is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineer to join us on the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tewksbury, MA.
nAs a Principal System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
nAnalysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.
nWork with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.
nWork across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
nCollaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
nAdditional responsibilities include:
nPerforming System Safety Program or Design analyses and documenting results (Preliminary Hazards List/Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Hazard Tracking Logs, Functional Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Safety Assessment Report)
nWorking with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including:
nMonitoring program technical execution,
nInterfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
nPreparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
nBriefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process, including for example: SSWGs, SSSTRP, Tech Assists, and Mission Readiness Assessments
nInterpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
nPreparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
nCollaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
nThis position is posted as ONSITE and is based at either Raytheon's Woburn, MA location or Raytheon's Huntsville, AL location.
nQualifications You Must Have:
nTypically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
nExperience with Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering.
nExperience with proposals or BOE (Basis of Estimates)
nExperience mentoring junior level safety engineers
nThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
nQualifications We Prefer:
nOverall DoD System Safety Program experience as well as experience in command and control systems and/or weapon combat systems
nExperience with safety standards (MIL-STD-882, AMCOM 385-17, JSSSEH, AOP-52, AR 385-10, MIL-HDBK-454, MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-1474, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-1425
nExperience developing/coordinating all products required to obtain safety review board approvals required to field a weapon system
nExperience producing System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), and Hazard Tracking Logs (HTLs), and Hazardous Material Management Plans and Reports
nExperience conducting System Safety Working Groups (SSWG) as well as managing a safety program and providing direction to supporting safety personnel
nEnsure system safety processes and requirements are properly planned, executed and documented during the entire life cycle of weapon systems and oversee the execution of programmatic system safety activities.
nExperience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development

nThe salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
