Fountain Valley, CA | Full-Time | $70,000–$130,000 (DOE)
A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Design or Project Engineer with 1 to 10 years of experience in stormwater planning and water resource design, with a focus on hydrology and hydraulics. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity offering meaningful work in sustainable infrastructure and flood control solutions across California and the surrounding region.
What You’ll Be Working On: n

    n
  • Watershed modeling and stormwater system analysis
  • n
  • 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling for drainage and flood mitigation
  • n
  • Water quality and BMP design for urban and regional infrastructure
  • n
  • River engineering, sediment transport, and integrated water resources planning
  • n
  • Hydraulic design of open channels, culverts, basins, and urban drainage systems
  • n
  • Floodplain mapping, FEMA studies, and regulatory support
  • n
  • Preparation of technical reports and plan sets in coordination with senior engineers
  • n
n

What You Bring: n

    n
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (Master’s a plus)
  • n
  • 1–10 years of experience in water resources or stormwater design
  • n
  • EIT required; PE for more senior applicants (California )
  • n
  • University coursework or field experience in H&H modeling and water infrastructure
  • n
  • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, or related software is a plus
  • n
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • n
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • n
n

Nice to Have: n

    n
  • Familiarity with California and/or Arizona regulatory permitting processes
  • n
  • Experience with EPA-regulated stormwater compliance or floodplain development
  • n
  • Exposure to fluvial geomorphology or sediment transport modeling
  • n
n

  • Occasional fieldwork may be required walking uneven terrain, observing stormwater infrastructure, etc.
  • n
  • Must have reliable transportation for local travel to project sites and client meetings
  • n
  • Some overnight travel may be required for regional work
  • n
  • Hybrid flexibility possible after onboarding, based on team needs
  • n

  • Salary range: $70,000–$130,000 depending on experience and licensing
