Position Description: Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer. They are responsible for designing, testing, integrating, and operating spaceflight avionics and electrical hardware and supporting space services. This senior role plays a crucial part in advancing hardware on various space-based programs, ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical systems for space applications.
Responsibilities:
Design & Development
  • Lead the design and development of space-qualified electronics, including power supplies, power distribution systems, command and data handling systems, electromagnetic filters, sensors, integrated flight computers, electrical cables, harnesses, and other digital and analog circuits.
  • Oversee PCB design, including schematic drawing layout and routing, symbol and footprint creation, and generation of fabrication files and assembly drawings.
  • Author technical documents such as assembly instructions, test procedures, interface requirements, and test and analysis reports.
Testing
  • Utilize digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, waveform/function generators, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, simulators, power switches, electronic load banks, break-out-boxes, and associated test and measurement equipment to conduct electrical development and troubleshooting when needed.
  • Perform and/or oversee qualification and acceptance testing on batteries, capacitors, containment vessels, and other safety-critical flight hardware.
  • Review payload designs and provide feedback to payload developers to ensure compatibility and compliance with Voyager Space Exploration and NASA requirements.
Reporting
  • Support proposal efforts by providing solutions for proposal challenges, documenting technical approaches, and contributing to cost and schedule estimates.
  • Deliver regular status reports and updates to Engineering management and Program/Project managers.
  • Maintain inventory and traceability controls for electrical components, sub-components, systems, lab tools, test equipment, and electrical systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Exhibits company Values and Behaviors and holds project and mission managers accountable to same.
  • Responsible for traveling up to 30%, both foreign & domestic, to launch sites, customer facilities, and NASA/Government centers.
  • Responsible for working a flexible schedule to support launch & integration operations (to include weekends and/or holidays).
  • Prioritize workload to ensure timely development, testing, and delivery of flight and non-flight (ground system) hardware.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, Flight Operations, Systems Verifications, and Safety throughout the development, manufacturing, inspection, testing, and qualification process for hardware.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field required.
  • 4-7 years of experience in electrical design and development.
  • Experience in designing, testing, and integrating electrical systems for space applications.
  • Experience with custom isolated DC-DC converter power/control schematic design
    • Experience with Phase Shifted Full Bridge, Resonant, Dual Active Bridge are plusses
  • Experience with custom magnetics design and modeling (transformers and inductors)
  • Experience with power electronics modeling and simulation using LTSpice, PSIM, or equivalent.
  • Experience with custom Power Electronics distribution including load switches, protection concepts, and control/protection.
  • Experience designing using space-grade, radiation-hardened parts constrained by specifications such as NASA EEE-INST-002.
Preferred
  • Experience in the Space Hardware industry preferred.
  • Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
