Provides mentoring and guidance to back-office staff. The Medical Assistant Coordinator will have met all the expectations outlined in the roles for Associate Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant and Senior Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant Coordinator will have maintained the highest level of professionalism and performance by receiving exceeds or greater on annual performance appraisals and remaining free of any active formal disciplinary process. If employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver's license and must be in compliance with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements POSITION REPONSIBILITIESPrepare for the patient appointment by reviewing and updating patient records prior to patient arrival Interview patient to obtain reason for visit: chief complaint, and document in electronic medical record following MA workflow protocols for intake of patientObtain and record the patients' vital signs according to protocol for patients agePrepare exam room and patient for the type of exam/procedure to be performedMaintain patient confidentiality following all HIPAA policies and proceduresDocument accurately all patient information in electronic health recordCommunicates in a timely and professional manner with patients and other members of the care team at all timesKnow and follows the eight rights of drug assessment and administrationKnow and follows procedure for immunization administration and storageFollow all medication policies and procedures for labeling, storing and useKnow and utilizes principles of universal protocols and National Patient Safety GoalsClean and sterilize instruments per protocolHas knowledge of surgical and diagnostic office proceduresCorrectly collect specimens, perform testing, and processes as indicated.Provides clear instructions to patients regarding obtaining and collecting of specimens.Review patient plan and educates patient on discharge instructionsCan accurately identify medications and their indications for proper utilizationEvaluate problems, situations or issues presented and understands priority while assisting with resolution using critical thinking and problem solving skillsParticipate in orientation, mentoring and training of staffAll other duties as assigned (such as translation and travel to other locations)Educates patients regarding services such as the Integrated care model, Patient Portal, and other specialty service lines within our organization and helps them navigate access to these services.Serve as subject matter expert for Associate Medical Assistants and Medical Assistants and Senior Medical AssistantsParticipate in regulatory reviews, audits and process improvement projectsParticipate with interviewing, selection, training and performance appraisalsProvide staffing for coverage needs as assignedCoordinate workflow and staff schedules to ensure coverageComplete communication circle with patients and other customersParticipate in ordering of supplies and inventory managementCoordinate and evaluates medication management and is resource for vaccine program and inventory managementInitiate request for maintenance of equipment and facilities as neededPerform other duties as requested or assigned NONESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Ability to communicate in more than one languageAdditional Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther duties as request or assignedPerform duties cross functionally across all departments and with all medical providersTravel to other health centers to meet operational needs for provider and patient care coveragePatient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Integrated Care Team (ICT)All employees are responsible for promoting and participating in interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to enhance the delivery of quality across the health care system.
