Tooling Design Engineer:

My client is looking for an experienced and innovative Tooling Design Engineer to lead cross-functional initiatives from concept development through to production. This role is critical in designing and modeling foundry tooling-including patterns and core boxes-and improving existing product lines. The ideal candidate will blend technical skill with creativity, ensuring cost-effective and manufacturable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • n

    Design and model foundry tooling such as patterns and core boxes using CAD software.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Collaborate with product development teams to finalize new product designs that align with manufacturing capabilities.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Create and manage detailed 3D CAD models (SolidWorks) and 2D drawings for manufacturing and maintenance.

  • n
  • n

    Develop tooling fixtures and machining components based on sketches, renderings, or rough concepts.

  • n
  • n

    Generate layouts and detailed drawings of complex assemblies and mechanical structures.

  • n
  • n

    Contribute to building and maintaining pattern design data for existing and new products.

  • n
  • n

    Troubleshoot and solve technical design issues with creativity and sound engineering principles.

  • n

    Coordinate technical activities with internal departments and external vendors.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Evaluate the feasibility of new equipment installations or facility modifications based on technical and economic factors.

  • n
  • n

    Apply current technologies and contribute to the development of new tooling methodologies.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Document lessons learned and integrate them into future tooling and product designs.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Participate in continuous improvement of design and production workflows across departments.

Required Qualifications:

n
    n
  • n

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or 5 + years of hands-on experience designing foundry tooling.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Minimum 3-5 years of experience with foundry tooling design.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD .

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience with 3D printing technologies (FDM & SLA) and 3D scanning .

    n
  • n
  • n

    Strong attention to detail with excellent troubleshooting skills.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Familiarity with a variety of materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and electrical components.

  • n
  • n

    Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.

  • n
  • n

    Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Capable of identifying design risks and dependencies, and collaborating cross-functionally to mitigate them.Total compensation includes: salary $85-$95K with yearly discretionary bonus. Health, Life and Dental insurance with 401K 3% automatic deposit.

Pay Details: $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
