Position Summary
As a Senior SCADA Engineer, you will lead the design, integration, and support of SCADA systems across utility-scale energy sites. You'll work closely with electrical, controls, and IT teams to ensure the efficient and secure operation of remote assets. This role is both strategic and hands-on-ideal for someone who enjoys designing robust systems and solving complex operational challenges.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and integrate SCADA systems for renewable energy facilities.
  • Define SCADA architecture, network, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Configure controllers, protection relays, and network switches.
  • Program and commission automation systems to support grid control (voltage/frequency), site control, and automatic transfer functions.
  • Design and deploy data interfaces between control systems, RTUs, data historians, and SCADA software using protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
  • Retrofit outdated SCADA systems with standardized, secure solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external SCADA support vendors for overlay and system monitoring.
  • Document technical solutions and support a 24/7 emergency/ticketing response rotation (monthly).
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited program)
  • 3+ years of experience in SCADA, automation, or controls engineering
  • Experience with PLC/HMI programming and industrial communication protocols
  • Strong problem-solving and documentation skills
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in power/energy/utilities
  • Familiarity with GE or Siemens SCADA platforms
  • Experience with SEL relays and substation control
  • NERC compliance and cybersecurity awareness
