KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge and expertise in NEC, NFPA and other national standards.
  • Knowledge of codes, principles and practices of electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of design techniques for developing solutions for engineering problems.
  • Knowledge in Signalization, Lighting, Utilities, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Tolling.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, State (FDOT) and Municipal (Green Book) design criteria, standards and plans preparation requirements.
  • Excellent verbal, technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop high-quality design plans and check the design work of others for accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and process complex technical information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Engineering:
  • Engineer of Record where needed.
  • Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
  • Performs calculations using engineering formulas and skills.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence.
  • Serves as a technical advisor and mentor to junior-level project team members.
  • Provides Design and Post-design services during construction.
Contract Documents :
  • Develops plans, specifications, and reports in accordance with engineering standards and client requirements.
  • Leads or participates in the design process to deliver successful projects. Work may include:
  • field investigations or inspections
  • detailed design work and plans preparation
  • detailed checks of design computations and plans done by other.
  • coordination of specific design elements.
Project Management:
  • Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates technical and administrative activities to deliver assignments that meet client requirements.
Business Development :
  • Assists with technical write-ups or other content as needed for proposals.
  • Assists with concept development for project approaches, etc. in proposals.
  • Participates in project development or business development activities with clients.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Seven (7+) years of experience (Electrical Engineer 1)
  • Fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience (Senior Electrical Engineer)
EDUCATION:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • For Electrical Engineer 1: Licensed as a Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required or EI Passed and Ability to take and Pass PE exam within 6 months of employment. For PEs, out-of-state PE is acceptable and Florida PE is required within 3 months of employment.
  • For Senior Electrical Engineer: Licensed as a Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) required. Out-of-state PE is acceptable within 1 month of employment. Florida PE is required within 3 months of employment.
