Location: Crocker Residential Care Program, Skid-Row Downtown Los Angeles (CA)
Position Purpose: Under the supervision of the Program Administrator, the Client Aide plays a key role in supporting the comfort, hygiene, and overall well-being of residents at the Crocker Residential Care facility. This position involves providing assistance with daily living activities, including mobility support, personal care, mealtime assistance, and engagement in social and recreational activities in a 24/7 care environment.
Program Population: The Crocker Crocker Residential Care is a licensed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), offering non-medical care and supervision to adults aged 60 and older living with chronic health conditions. The program emphasizes a home-like setting that supports independence, provides assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), medication reminders, and promotes social interaction.
Principal Responsibilities:
  1. Observe and document resident conditions and report concerns to supervisory staff.
  2. Record and communicate notable changes in client behavior or health.
  3. Monitor residents' use of bedpans, urinals, commodes, and assist with emptying urine collection bags as needed.
  4. Support residents in navigating the facility for meals, appointments, recreational activities, and transportation.
  5. Provide assistance with eating, dressing, bathing, grooming, and hygiene.
  6. Collaborate with the care team to ensure resident health, safety, and well-being.
  7. Promote a safe, clean, and hygienic environment by disinfecting surfaces, cleaning shared areas, and supporting overall facility maintenance.
  8. Assist clients with personal laundry, including linens, towels, and clothing.
  9. Maintain adequate stock of clean linens and towels in resident areas.
  10. Encourage and support resident participation in daily activities and community programs.
  11. Report safety hazards or malfunctioning equipment to supervisory personnel.
  12. Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and safety programs.
  13. Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and records.
  14. Foster a respectful, compassionate, and collaborative environment among residents and team members.
  15. Work effectively within a team to support program goals and daily operations.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent (relevant experience may substitute for formal education)
  2. Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, or mental health conditions preferred
  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  4. Ability to provide trauma-informed, client-centered care
  5. Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  6. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  7. Flexible and available for varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  8. Comfortable working in a pet-friendly environment
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  1. Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or in harm reduction settings.
  2. Familiarity with mental health crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  3. Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment and provide care with flexibility and creativity.
Additional Requirements:
