Senior Structural Engineer
nLocation: Richland, WA
nnColumbia Energy & Environmental Services, an established small business headquartered in Richland, WA, provides full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation & controls, and technology development.
nWe are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team. This role offers opportunities for career advancement, including serving as a design engineer on design/build/test projects, technical lead, project engineer, and project manager.
nnJob Responsibilities & Duties:

- Identify, evaluate, and test innovative design solutions for projects related to nuclear and hazardous waste remediation, equipment installation and support, chemical processing, and commercial development. n
- Perform structural design and analysis in compliance with established codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ASCE, ACI, IBC). n
- Design lifting fixtures and tooling to support fabrication. n
- Conduct structural calculations to verify equipment design and installations meet specified load combinations and contract requirements. n
- Provide support for multiple simultaneous projects and cross-functional teams. n
- Collaborate with designers to produce detailed design drawings. n
- Develop test plans and procedures, supporting system testing and validation. n
- Maintain configuration control of baseline drawings and documents. n
- Effectively communicate task status, progress, and technical challenges, ensuring project deadlines are met. n
- Conduct project reviews to ensure compliance with fundamental design requirements. n
Required Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree or higher from an ABET-accredited university. n
- Minimum of 10+ years of demonstrated experience in structural engineering. n
Qualifications & Attributes:
n- n
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE). n
- Experience with IBC, AISC, ACI standards and their application. n
- Department of Energy (DOE) experience. n
- Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software such as Ansys or RISA-3D. n
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize project needs and meet delivery schedules. n
- Strong ability to plan work activities and accurately estimate task durations. n
- Proven ability to produce high-quality design deliverables. n
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. n
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership in work. n
- Willingness to embrace new challenges, expand technical skills, and contribute to project teams. n
