Summary
nThe Equipment Operator will work collaboratively with the Laborers and Foreman for completion of jobsite activities.
nEssential Duties and Responsibilities
n- n
- Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, backhoes, etc. n
- Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping, and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling. n
- Utilize GPS systems, read and understand grade stakes and hubs for grade control and finishing n
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures n
- Work outdoors on location in all weather conditions and on all terrain n
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment n
- Repair or assist in the repair and maintenance of the construction vehicles n
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication n
- Clean equipment as scheduled or when required n
- Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when finished for the day n
- Practice workplace safety per OSHA standards n
- Ability to work independently and to stay on top of the schedule n
- Willingness to do work outside of equipment operations, which includes but is not limited to general labor work n
- Maintains a neat appearance and dresses appropriately for the job n
- Good attendance n
- Is a team player, and communicates well n
- Presents a positive attitude about the company and the job n

nEducation and/or Experience

- Proven ability to operate heavy equipment n
- Valid driver/operator license n
- High school diploma or equivalent or at least one year of experience n
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance n
- Knowledge of basic equipment and vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels n
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures n
- Must always present a professional image, representing self and company in a professional, courteous and respectful manner when dealing with customers, vendors, employees and the public n
- Skilled with various hand and power tools n
- Competent operating excavators, backhoe, trencher, etc. n
Physical Requirements

- Sit, stand, and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday n
- Stand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day n
- Bend, kneel, squat, and climb throughout the workday n
- Lift from 10 to 150 pounds n
- Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and may be in loud environments n
- Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others n
