Sr. Electrical Engineer

Position Summary: We're seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and troubleshoot complex control systems for high-performance packaging equipment. This role will lead PLC/HMI programming efforts, work closely with electrical designers, and drive system integration with third-party vendors. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong motion control experience, a passion for solving tough technical problems, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
• System Design and Integration: o Design and integrate robotic systems with palletizers and de-palletizers for automated packaging.
o Develop and optimize End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) solutions for vacuum, grippers, and lifting systems.
o Program and configure PLCs, robotic control systems, and simulation software .
o Work with cam shaft-based hard automation systems for fixed, repetitive tasks.
• Software and Control Systems: o Develop control algorithms for robotic systems handling palletizing and de-palletizing tasks.
o Troubleshoot and optimize robot control software and PLC systems .
o Ensure seamless integration between software and hardware systems in automated machinery.
• Machine Vision Systems: o Implement and configure machine vision systems (illumination, CCD cameras, and optics).
o Use vision systems for product alignment, detection, and quality control.
• Safety and Compliance: o Ensure adherence to robotic safety standards (EN ISO, OSHA) .
o Perform risk assessments for automated systems.
• Testing and Deployment: o Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) .
o Debug and troubleshoot robotic systems to ensure performance and efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: o Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing teams .
o Collaborate with suppliers for system integration and project requirements.
• Travel: o Occasional domestic and international travel (e.g., Czech Republic) as needed for project deployments and collaborations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and program PLC, HMI, and servo motion control systems.
• Collaborate with designers to produce BOMs and schematics.
• Integrate 3rd-party systems and ensure full line functionality.
• Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting and technical support.
• Maintain documentation and compliance with UL508, NEC, NFPA.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to training materials.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in PLC/HMI/Motion control.
• Expertise with Allen Bradley and/or Siemens platforms.
• Familiarity with machine vision systems (Cognex preferred).
• Ability to travel up to 15%.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python).
• Background in packaging, automation, or machinery.
• Strong communication and project coordination abilities.
