About the Role - The Project Engineer (PE) supports construction projects from bidding through closeout. They ensure accuracy in documentation, manage submittals and RFIs, track project changes, and coordinate closely with the Project Manager (PM) and ownership. The PE is a key player in ensuring project quality, compliance, and timely execution.
This role will work out of the San Clemente office, and require travel to project sites as needed (OC/LA & surrounding area).
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Bid/Bidding : Assist with subcontractor bid reviews, quantity takeoffs, and scope narratives.
- Permitting : Submit and track permits and plan checks with local agencies.
- Job Walks : Conduct detailed site reviews using marked-up plans and checklists.
- Pre-Construction : Review plans, verify subcontractor scopes, prepare submittal lists, and document thoroughly.
- Construction Phase : Review and manage RFIs and submittals, ensure compliance, and update Procore in real time.
- Project Turnover : Coordinate closeout documentation, conduct final site walks, and manage punch list items in Procore.
Ideal Candidate
- Detail-oriented and proactive.
- Minimum of 2+ years experience as a Project Engineer, performing a similar scope of work.
- Strong experience in commercial construction. Experience with Healthcare projects (OSHPD/HCAi) preferred.
- Strong communicator.
- Eager to learn and grow in the construction field.
