Qualifications:
Some college hours, high school diploma or GED
Texas driver's license
Three years mechanical experience (or heavy-duty tire work) in vehicle repair and/or other related experience
Able to understand and execute verbal and written orders and to work productively without continual supervision
Working knowledge of a preventative maintenance program
Formal training in vehicle repair (preferred)
Experience in small engine equipment repair
Primary Purpose:
Perform skilled mechanical repair on district white fleet (trucks, automobiles and other light equipment) and ensure district fleet is maintained in a professional manner.

Working Conditions:
Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposed to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily maintenance and inspections, diagnoses, and repairs to district white fleet.
- Inspect vehicles and follows a preventative maintenance schedule.
- Able to perform minor repairs, i.e., hoses, belts, bulbs, etc.
- Able to perform general lubrication, change filters, etc.
- Able to install mufflers and pipes.
- May perform tire Mounting, balancing and rotation of heavy (truck) and light (auto) tires.
- Assist the Maintenance Department small engine mechanics.
- May use welding equipment.
- Picks up and delivers vehicles.
- Makes emergency road calls as needed.
- Able to inspect and replace the fleet's tires and tubes.
- Mount and balance heavy (truck and bus) and light (auto) duty tires.
- Maintain records concerning tire use (preventative maintenance).
- Maintain a fleet tire inventory for emergency use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
