nSummary:
nCollection of blood specimens from properly identified patients through established procedures. Transportation and receipt of specimens to the laboratory with distribution to various departments.
nResponsibilities:
nThe Phlebotomist/Certified Phlebotomist provides professional and friendly venipuncture service to the inpatients and outpatients of the hospital. They represent the front line of Laboratory Services and must exhibit excellent customer not only to the patient but to our nursing and medical staff as well.

nQualifications
nEDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
nHigh School Graduate or equivalent.
nPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
n1 year preferred.
nLICENSURE/ REGISTRATION/ CERTIFICATION
nCertification such as ASCP or ASPT preferred but not required.
nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIREMENTS
nBasic computer skills or keyboarding. Strong communication and customer services skills.
nWORK ENVIRONMENT
nDue to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, blood borne pathogens (which includes HIV and Hepatitis B), and/or other potentially infectious diseases. Exposure to various chemical hazards.
nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
nWalking and standing throughout entire shift. High finger and manual dexterity. Moderate color discrimination.
