nThe Environmental Engineer is a corporate staff position responsible for supporting and coordinating environmental compliance and sustainability efforts across multiple manufacturing plants. This role focuses on implementing environmental best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility within manufacturing operations.
nDuties and Responsibilities of the Position:
nEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, and standards.
nConduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
nCoordinate with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections as necessary.
nDevelop and implement sustainability programs aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting resource conservation.
nIdentify opportunities for waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to execute sustainability initiatives and track progress toward established goals.
nEstablish and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) to monitor environmental aspects and impacts.
nDevelop procedures and protocols for environmental monitoring, reporting, and incident response.
nIdentify and assess environmental risks associated with manufacturing operations.
nCreate and implement risk management strategies to mitigate environmental liabilities and prevent incidents.
nEngage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, community members, and regulatory bodies.
nCommunicate environmental performance and initiatives through reports, presentations, and meetings.
nRespond to inquiries and concerns related to environmental matters.
nPerform other duties as assigned.
nRequired Experience and Education:
nBachelors degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred.
n6-8 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
nExperience in Title V Air Permit reporting preferred.
nExperience with SWPPP, SPCC, NPDES and wastewater discharge implementation, permitting and reporting strongly preferred.
nCompetencies:
nSpecialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in environmental engineering or a related discipline.
nExcellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
nAbility to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, delegate effectively, and manage time efficiently.
nHigh level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
nFlexible and adaptable to change; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
nDemonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.

nOccasional exposure to hazardous conditions such as noise, moving mechanical parts, and airborne particles associated with active manufacturing environments.
nMust be able to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
nRequires the ability to bend, crouch, and stoop as needed.
nMust be able to work in non-climate-controlled environments.
nThe work environment may include a noisy, high-traffic production floor.
nMay be required to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
nMust be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly throughout the day.
nMust be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
