Job Description
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Apply Engineering knowledge and technique to provide product engineering and chemistry support to the process of manufacturing thermoset fiberglass pipe and fittings. Involves "hands on" technical problem-solving regarding manufacturing processes, the manufacturing environment, and potential material issues.
Develop, verify, and implement product design and manufacturing solutions to satisfy a variety of market requirements.
Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, standards, customer requirements and related specifications.
Represent the company as necessary with industry groups.
Coordinate and manage activities related to technical developments.
Analyze corrosion data and laboratory test results.
Provide information used in preparation of technical literature.
Provide support to Quality Assurance, Application Engineering, and Sales for communication with customers regarding product related opportunities or issues.
Participate in management and strategy sessions as requested to help guide product development efforts.
Interface with Corporate Engineering/Product Development to schedule and monitor necessary testing and development support.
Responsible for assuring ease of manufacturing and safe performance of equipment used during all phases of manufacturing process through the development, management, and implementation of engineering projects.
Responsible for design of process tooling, designs and purchases prototype manufacturing equipment, tooling, and test equipment.
Develops and implements engineering projects to improve manufacturing operations.
Implements continuous improvement in processes and materials to improve performance and reduce costs.
Trains and supervises process technicians.
Prepares cost estimates for new items needed for production.
Reviews/audits bills of materials and routings to confirm/verify accuracy.
Confers with vendors on proper tooling and material selection.
Apprises Plant Manager of equipment needs.
Independently plans and outlines methods and procedures for entire project assignments and develops innovative approaches for solving product development.
Writes project reports with documented findings and recommendations and evaluations.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science.
Project management experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Position is onsite located at 25 S Main St, Sand Springs, OK 74063.
Possess a high level of technical aptitude and ability to understand engineering, design, and product performance issues.
Adequate verbal, written and analytical skills.
Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in process development engineering.
Knowledge of composite pipe and fitting manufacturing preferred.
Available to travel as needed.
