We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer 5 with a strong background in power electronics to join a leading engineering team in Mossville, IL. Candidates must have a passion for hands-on work in test validation, prototyping, and system optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of test plans, validation procedures, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with functional and performance specifications.
- Design, model, and simulate power electronics systems, including AC-DC and DC-DC converters and inverters.
- Build, test, debug, and optimize hardware prototypes for power electronics systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineers during the design and validation process.
- Conduct root cause analysis using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and thermal cameras.
- Perform system validation under various environmental and operating conditions (e.g., voltage, temperature, load, EMI/EMC).
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams on DFT (Design for Testability) and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) best practices.
- Ensure adherence to rigorous safety standards during high-voltage testing.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in power electronics testing and validation.
- Proficient with converter/inverter prototyping, debugging, and test bench operation.
- Solid understanding of DC-DC converters, AC-DC inverters, magnetics, and control algorithms.
- Skilled in the use of lab instruments and data acquisition systems.
- Experience with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice).
- Familiarity with relevant standards (UL, IEC, ISO) for power electronics systems.
- Experience with automated test systems and scripting.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC testing, thermal management, and environmental validation.
- Understanding of embedded systems and microcontroller-based control strategies.
- Work within a collaborative and innovative R&D group focused on advancing electrified vehicle technology.
