SUMMARY:
Plans, organizes, and executes the activities of the electrical function, including buildings and equipment, related to capital expenditure projects, under the guidance of the superintendent of Electrical Engineering. Coordinates work needed to perform capex projects. Establishes good lines of communication between mechanical and plant operations and the electrical department. Helps to develop, implement and execute department procedures, related to electrical work, tool inventory, stock and job specific materials. Encourage good work habits and promote safety. Assist in developing a staff of competent personnel capable of performing their job requirements satisfactorily. Under direction of the superintendent of electrical engineering, manage on-site projects during implementation and execution to meet scope and objectives. Plan, develop, and provide the expertise in implementing and achieving efficient utilization of the workforce and plant facilities to achieve specific quality standards safely and efficiently. Assist and support the Superintendent of Electrical Engineering, in all aspects of the engineering department. Encourage and promote safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Install, maintain, repair, or replace electrical equipment and systems in strict accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project drawings.
  • Required to train/in-service employees on equipment usage and methods as necessary.
  • Using standard and specialty electrical test equipment, tests electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Oversee the work of other electricians.
  • Install power supply wiring and controls field wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and other industrial machinery, per project drawings and direction of the Superintendent of Electrical Engineering.
  • Provide timely and accurate performance information on all aspects of the operations at the plant within the area of responsibility.
  • Installation of conduit (RAC & EMT), cable raceways, equipment enclosures, and required wire / cabling.
  • Assist in the procurement of fixtures, fittings, or components for use in special projects or the repair or installation of equipment.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with others within and outside of the engineering department, with whom you must maintain good rapport in order to successfully accomplish your job.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of electrical field experience. Experience working in a manufacturing facility is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE:
Working understanding of electrical installation and engineering. Ability to comply with food safety and GMPs, as well as the NEC and other applicable codes and standards.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Prefer Master Electrician License. This may be waived, depending on experience and knowledge.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and maintain accurate records. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from maintenance supervisors, workers, and employees.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must effectively communicate with USDA, OSHA, production, and management personnel. Bilingual skills are a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. D
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written, and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available. SQF Certification preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot, and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperatures, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.
