ECN Automation is seeking a Project Engineer to provide support for control systems projects focused primarily on the mining and food and beverage industries. The engineer is involved in the design, development, pre-operational and ongoing testing, construction supervision, commissioning, and startup phases of industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will be working in a team environment under tight deadlines with high standards and with safety one of our primary objectives.
nResponsibilities include:

- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel design, and instrument specification. n
- Engineer, design, and maintain installation of electrical, instrumentation and automation systems associated with processing plants, mining facilities and related industrial plants n
- Design, specification, and procurement of control systems, low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, and variable frequency drives. n
- Programming of Industrial Computers, PLC, PACs, HMI, databases n
- Programming Rockwell Automation PLCs using software such as RSLogix or Studio 5000 and developing customized solutions for process automation. n
- Developing Human-Machine Interface (HMI) application using Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Linx View, Connected Components Workbench or other similar software. n
- Troubleshoot circuit and/or design problems and provide technical assistance to field crews in new or existent control systems. n
- Lead project development activities. n
- Implement and apply appropriate project monitoring tools. n
- Report project status for project development and execution. n
- Coordinate with different engineering teams, including design, engineering and implementation to ensure seamless project execution. n
- Work closely with the engineering team to ensure that the design meets project requirements and industry standards. n
- Engage with clients to understand their requirements, provide updates on projects progress and address any concerns or issues that may arise during project lifecycle. n
- Identify potential risks and challenges in the project and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project timelines and success. n
- Pinpoint quality issues and propose effective solutions. n
- Attend customer sites to commission automation projects and/ or troubleshoot faults. n
- Provide training to end-users and support teams on the operation and maintenance of automated systems. n
- Participate in team on-call rotation and provide support during project related cutovers. n
- Carry out activities based on the work schedule reported by the assigned PM and report hours based on company standards. n
- Deliver plant supplies and general logistics support. n
- Supervision of electrical/mechanical installations. n
- Must be willing to travel up to 50%. n
- Support to the commercial team with marketing material development, client presentation, success case presentations, etcetera. n
- Support to the Sales Department with Hardware and software specifications, solutions design and provide guidance and feedback on the estimation of resources and time for the acquisition phase of projects. n
- Support on assessing the risks and strengths of new or existing projects. n
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). n
- Integrate automation systems with existing plant/process systems. n
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting on-site. n
- Provide post-installation support and training to client teams. n
- Ensure systems meet industry standards (ISA, IEC, local codes). n
- Compliance and enforcement of company safety, environmental and governmental policies, and regulations as they apply. n
Education Requirements
nBachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering/ Data science, or similar.
nRequirements

- Minimum 3 year of experience as an Automation Engineer n
- Experience in integrating Rockwell automation systems with other automation components, third party devices, and enterprise systems. n
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills to identify and resolve issues in control systems, ensuring optimal performance n
- Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation products, including PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking and related software (RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, etc.). n
- A keen eye for detail. n
- Must demonstrate a high level of written and verbal communication skills in English. n
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, technicians and project managers to achieve project activites. n
- Vision must be sufficient to read data reports, manuals, and computer screens. n
- Hearing must be sufficient to understand a conversation at a normal volume, including telephone calls and in person. n
- Speech must be coherent to clearly convey or exchange information, including the giving and receiving of assignments and/or directions. n
- May be required to lift 25-50lbs. n
- Demonstrated competency in electronic engineering including engineering principles, practices, and procedures. n
Key Competencies / Demostrated knowledge of the following:
n1. Rockwell Automation Products & Software
n2. Industrial Instrumentation principles
n3. Industrial Network Protocols such as: DeviceNet, ControlNet and TCP/IP Protocols.
n4. Process Controller Function Block Programming, PLC ladder logic, digital and sequential logic programming methods, and process related closed-loop control systems
n5. Variable Frequency Drives specification, installation, and commissioning.
n6. Specifying hardware & architectures for control systems.
n7. The Electrical Code
n8. API codes as applied to electrical installations.
n- General Knowledge on:
n1. Communication tools (Outlook, I Explorer, SharePoint, Teams)
n2. Mining Processes and F&B Processes.
n3. Other Automation products. Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, Foxboro, Wonderware.
nnWork Conditions:
nOn-site working conditions include heavy industrial environments such as mining and gas industries. These environments may have conditions that include extreme temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; on slippery and/or uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; and at heights.
nHours of operation and employee schedules vary based off each project and may require irregular or extended hour and travel for project completion.
nTravel includes both domestic and international travel.
nWill require frequent standing, occasional bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, balancing and reaching
nWill have exposure to noise, vibrations, well-treating chemicals, glycol, methanol, gasoline, NH3, natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons.
nWill often work alone with minimum supervision.
