Electrical Power Engineer – Protection & Control
Location: Alpharetta, GA | Travel: ~40% (including air travel)
Type: Full-Time | Experience: 4–8 Years
Join a nationally recognized electrical power and control systems engineering firm, currently expanding its offerings in protection and control. We're looking for a highly skilled Electrical Power Engineer to join our Alpharetta, GA team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on advanced SCADA integrations, relay programming, and field commissioning for mission-critical electrical infrastructure projects.
nnKey Responsibilities n
- n
- Configure and program SEL protection relays and RTACs , including data concentrator functionality, logic, and HMI development. n
- Integrate electrical SCADA systems using platforms like OSI AspenTech or similar. n
- Develop relay settings for GE Multilin and SEL relays. n
- Perform field testing, onsite commissioning , and troubleshooting of electrical protection and SCADA systems. n
- Create full electrical construction packages , including: n
- Single-Line & Three-Line Diagrams n
- Schematics / Elementary Diagrams n
- Interconnection & Logic Diagrams n
- Maintain accurate documentation for all protection, control, and SCADA configurations. n
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure deliverables meet technical standards and budget goals. n
- Provide after-hours technical support as needed. n
- Assist in developing technical proposals and cost estimates for new project bids. n

Requirements
nRequired Skills & Experience n
- n
- 4–8 years of hands-on engineering experience in protection & control systems. n
- Proficient in SEL RTAC programming and SCADA system integration . n
- Deep understanding of communication protocols : DNP3, MMS, GOOSE, and IEC 61850 . n
- Strong knowledge of relay settings , SCADA architecture, and HMI development. n
- Familiarity with NEC, NESC , and IEEE 3000 series standards. n
- Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower for power system modeling. n
- Fluent in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel. n
- Excellent communication and documentation skills. n
Education & Certifications n
- n
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required. n
- Completion of the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam. n
