Job Description

Library Science Faculty will:

  • Teach two or more MLS courses per semester within their subject area, pending enrollment and program need.
  • Assist in developing and refining a graduate curriculum that meets American Library Association (ALA) standards.
  • Work closely with MLS adjuncts, graduate assistants, and other staff.
  • Assist the director with the ALA accreditation process.
  • Embed assessment functions in courses and gather artifacts for annual MU assessment reporting and ALA accreditation.
  • Collaborate with teams overseeing student advising, internships, and placements.
  • Assist with marketing and recruitment efforts.
  • Participate in faculty governance, university service, and scholarly activities as per the University Library Faculty Handbook.
  • Perform traditional library duties as needed based on expertise.

This is a 12-month, non-tenured appointment in the West Virginia University System, renewed annually through peer review. The position involves active participation in university service and may include traditional library duties.

  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Organize information, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong information literacy and technology skills.
  • Participate in campus and university committees and activities.
