POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Standardized Patient Program Manager to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Manages day-to-day operations and objectives of the Standardized Patient (SP) Program to meet goals and objectives. Provides operations and administrative directions.
  • Evaluates program operations and facilitates quality improvement tools. Develops and implements quality improvement initiatives
  • Liaises with the Herbert Wertheim Human Resources (HWCOM) HR team regarding the recruitment process of all SPs and SP Program personnel. Oversees SP candidate selection in collaboration with the SP Educator.
  • Establishes priorities, assigns functions, and maintains quality control. Partners with clients, course directors, and coordinators to establish priorities and maximize time while maintaining best practices in human patient simulation pedagogy.
  • Manages SP budget and reports SP-related expenses to the Director. Assists with all SP program purchases and ensures operations are managed within the authorized budget. Manages, supervises, and reports all quoting and billing for SP services.
  • Contributes to management strategy and participates in strategic planning, staffing decisions, policy development, and other key areas.
  • Leads the development of research and grants and/ or partnership funding opportunities in human patient simulation-based learning and/or evaluation and institutional patient safety. Supports the development and writing of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and oversees the management of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, reporting deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Assists with developing and implementing processes and systems to operate the program at best practices. Facilitates project management of SP initiatives. Regulates staffing in accordance with fluctuating workload. Serves as a primary resource for issues and SP communications.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with external partners, funding agencies, and professional organizations to support the expansion and sustainability of the SP program.
  • Develops and implements strategic plans to expand and grow the SP Program. Identify opportunities for collaboration with academic departments, health institutions, and other stakeholders to enhance the utilization of SPs. Advises senior management in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
  • Implements policies that comply with regulatory and accreditation standards and are consistent with HWCOM policies. Maintains an understanding of education regulations, accreditation requirements, SP Methodologies, and develops strategies to ensure successful outcomes as well as mitigation strategies to minimize program disruption.
  • Assists with setup and breakdown of simulation activities, tours, and other Sim Center-related events. Participates as a member of simulation center committees and represents the simulation center at various community and student functions.
  • Forges partnerships and serves as the primary point of contact with senior leaders, faculty, internal departments, and external clients to increase the utilization of human patient simulation for training, assessment, and other activities. Collaborates with stakeholders across departments and internal and external affiliates to define SP projects, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Manages the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of assigned personnel. Oversees the training, scheduling, and tracking of SPs (Per Diem). Communicates ideas, coaches, mentors, and facilitates employment and performance management of assigned SP Program personnel.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.
