Core Team Operations Representative (CTOR) On New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Core Teams

This role serves as the Core Team Operations Representative (CTOR) on New Product Introduction (NPI) project core teams, functioning as a Senior Engineering Program Manager. The position provides strategic leadership to a cross-functional extended team, including members from Manufacturing Operations (software and hardware), Supply Chain Planning, Category Management, Sourcing, Contract Manufacturers/OEMs, Supplier Quality, and other relevant functions. The goal is to drive the successful development and commercialization of new products. The Program Manager is accountable for all operational aspects of the programranging from value stream selection and planning to execution and implementationthroughout the product development lifecycle. This includes ensuring that the operational perspective is fully represented, project commitments are delivered, and key performance metrics are achieved and communicated effectively.

As a Senior Program Manager, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own all Operations activities and deliverables throughout product development and execution.
  • Lead value stream development from early technology phases through market release.
  • Represent Operations at the Core Team level, ensuring manufacturing and supply chain priorities are embedded in program plans.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate Operations strategies and trade-offs to NPI stakeholders.
  • Lead risk mitigation for manufacturing and supply chain schedules, including supplier selection, contracting, cost structures, and fulfillment to ensure on-time NPI delivery.
  • Initiate and drive strategic initiatives that improve organizational outcomes and operational performance.
  • Serve as SME in program management and cost optimization to achieve P&L targets.
  • Develop and lead launch strategies for complex programs, mentor other program managers.
  • Coach Operations team members on NPI best practices and execution playbooks.
  • Define and deliver key NPI Operations metrics: COGS (Labor, Material, Scrap), Cycle Time, Capacity, Yields, Process Ppk, etc.
  • Manage mature programs with established NPI plans, driving execution excellence.
  • Lead cross-functional NPI Operations Teamsincluding Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Qualitythrough successful development and launch.
  • Provide operational leadership, coaching, and tactical execution aligned with strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement operations plans, budgets, and schedules that impact program success and resource allocation.
  • Ensure the Voice of Operations is captured, communicated, and documented throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Oversee compliance with Quality Systems, Design History Files, and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate development builds and ensure operational alignment with NPI Core Teams.
  • Champion manufacturing and sourcing strategies, including facility selection, make/buy, and business continuity.
  • Ensure rigorous application of Design for Reliability and Manufacturing (DRM).
  • Lead planning and execution of launch builds, capacity readiness, and commercialization activities.
  • Provide indirect leadership and development for extended Operations teams, actively coach and mentor talent.

Must Have:

  • Bachelors degree in science, Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years or relevant experience

Nice to Have:

  • Proven experience in new product or process development through to launch.
  • Strong project/program leadership with financial accountability; PMP certification preferred.
  • Deep technical expertise in product/process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), and qualification (e.g., CPAP).
  • Hands-on manufacturing engineering background.
  • Effective leadership in matrixed, cross-cultural environments; strong team collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation communication across all organizational levels.
  • Committed to coaching and developing talent; partners with functional leaders to build organizational capability.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills with a track record of driving innovation.
  • Challenges the status quo and leads to improvements at the organizational level.
  • Demonstrates extreme ownership and accountability for deliverables and strategy.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, business-oriented approach to gap identification and strategic improvement.
  • Skilled in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), DRM, DFSS, or equivalent methodologies.
  • Broad cross-functional knowledge in at least 3 of the following (with familiarity across all):
    • Product software/hardware development
    • Supply and capacity planning for launch
    • Sourcing and component qualification
    • Quality engineering for new products
    • Manufacturing operations leadership
    • Product design project management
    • Experience in the medical device industry.
    • Strong business acumen with understanding of operations costing (LBM, OPC, capital, inventory).
    • Effective advocate for Operations within cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$170,400.00 - $255,600.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
