The Coach House, Wicker Park's intimate and vibrant tasting menu restaurant, is seeking a full-time Lead Server to join our small team. Featuring a unique blend of Indian and Filipino cuisines, we’ve been fortunate to see our restaurant featured in Chicago Magazine, Infatuation, Eater, and national publications; for three years in a row, it has been featured in Michelin Guide, and is led by 2x James Beard and Jean Banchet -nominated Chef Zubair Mohajir (as seen on Season 22 of Top Chef), infusing storytelling and a visible passion for cooking into every dish and dining experience. We're looking for a passionate server who is eager to grow within their career and help elevate our guest experience. This role offers the opportunity to continue to grow within our company, encompassing additional responsibilities beyond standard service expectations.

This role has the opportunity to advance and support in curating the wine list, based on experience and professional goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor server staff, ensuring adherence to our service standards.
  • Coordinate daily front-of-house operations, including table assignments and guest flow.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing guest inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Assist in training new employees on menu offerings and service techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining area, ensuring an inviting atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food delivery.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions, ensuring accurate billing.
  • Contribute to inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Lead by example, fostering a positive and motivated team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a server in a high-volume and/or tasting menu restaurant; supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of wine and confidence in discussing dishes, wines, cocktails, and spirits.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Passion for hospitality and a commitment to providing outstanding guest experiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays.
