Job Summary:

Overall supervision and guidance to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in the day program. Ensure an appropriate level of support to individuals participating in the program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professional Floaters

Duties/Responsibilities:

Develop and implement opportunities for community connections and participation

Plan and implement activities, curricula, and calendars

Develop and maintain group schedules

Ensure implementation of all documentation, such as data collection, forms, and progress notes.

Oversee program area and ensure all safety guidelines and requirements are met. Ensure the day program is safe (chemicals locked, exits cleared, etc.)

Weekly audit of individual records to include both electronic and paper documentation (including but not limited to daily notes, goal tracking, health related documentation, etc.)

Daily audit of timekeeping and AOD requests

Communicate with residential provider and/or family

Monitor maintenance of equipment

Monitor the day program for appropriate activities and levels of interactions

Provide guidance to DSPs during activities

Monitor/maintain necessary paperwork related to payroll for individuals as appropriate

Participate in team meetings as directed by the supervisor

Implement and assist in the development of Individual Service Plans (ISP)

Attend all ISP meetings as the Day Supports DDP

Provide leadership to all day program employees

Provide support in the program area when necessary and full coverage in the case of staff absences.

Provide support with personal care, such as toileting and feeding as necessary

Oversee ordering of supplies and materials

Attend joint meetings with other departments, such as Community Living, Nursing, Behavior, and QI.

Ensure CPI standards are in use at day services

Arrange and facilitate monthly department meetings and distribute minutes within a week of meeting.

Ensure that staff receive training as needed

Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with individuals, families, co-workers, and community members

Maintain objectivity in position to set appropriate limits while working with individuals

Support individuals in their personal growth and development, respecting cultural, , spiritual, and individual

Adhere to all agency policies and procedures

Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Two years of management experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong supervisory and leadership skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Required Certifications and Licenses: Developmental Professional (DDP), CPR, CPI, First Aid and Driver License

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required; human services field strongly

2 years minimum experience working with adults with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities, or in another related Human Services field

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.

Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 100 pounds

Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry patients

Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue

Ability to stand for extended periods

Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach

Fine motor skills

Visual acuity

Ability to operate a motor vehicle

Ability to hear safety sounds and alarms
