Job Details

  • Title: SONYC Program Assistant Director
  • Department: Youth and Community Development Services
  • Program: Lyons Community School
  • Work Schedule: School-Year: Monday-Friday, alternating times of 9:30a-5:30p or 10a-6p, occasional Saturdays. Summer: Monday-Friday, 8a-4p, or 10a-6p; Saturdays (various); as a non-exempt employee, working hours will include non-standard hours.
  • Salary Range: $45,000-$47,000 (Dependent on experience, funding, and performance)
  • Reports To: SONYC Program Director
  • Date: April 2025
  • Job Summary: Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and supervision of the program, ensuring high-quality, innovative programming for participants.

Minimum Requirements
  • Associates degree or 5+ years in youth services, supervisory experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Brooklyn communities, stakeholders, and resources
  • Experience in designing, planning, and implementing structured programs
  • 1+ years supervising staff
  • 1+ years in budget, contract, and grant management
  • Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiative
  • Proficiency in administrative work
  • Knowledge of public education system and youth development best practices
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Team player committed to urban youth work
  • Ability to foster an LGBTQIA+-friendly environment
  • Experience partnering with DOE and community organizations
  • Skills in experiential learning and facilitation
  • Strategic thinking, flexibility, and teamwork
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research
  • Knowledge of DYCD regulations and online systems
  • Clearances: NYC Dept. of Health fingerprint and SCR clearance, NYS Food Handlers Certificate, CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus
