Job Description Description: We are seeking an experienced and proactive
Project Engineer III
to join our growing team. The Project Engineer III will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing infrastructure projects from design through construction, ensuring technical excellence, cost-effectiveness, and schedule adherence.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage portions of engineering and construction projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and oversee project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, and progress reports. Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents to identify and resolve construction challenges. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams—including designers, contractors, inspectors, and clients—to ensure effective collaboration and timely issue resolution. Monitor construction activities for quality assurance and compliance with plans, specs, safety protocols, and applicable codes. Track and manage project budgets and schedules using tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. Conduct field visits, perform inspections, and support client meetings and construction progress reviews.
Requirements:
Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program Minimum of 4–6 years of relevant engineering or construction management experience
Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret and apply construction plans, specifications, and contracts Proficient in project management software (Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project) Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Civil 3D for plan review Skilled in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for markups, redlining, and document management Familiarity with pay applications, schedule of values, and change order management GIS and field data collection tools experience is a plus
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience as a office engineer or assistant resident engineer on civil infrastructure projects Working knowledge of local, state (IDOT, Tollway), and federal design and construction standards Proven ability to coordinate with contractors and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
