Network Security Engineer

A Network Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of the organization's network infrastructure. This role involves protecting systems and data from threats, managing security tools, and working closely with other IT teams to implement security measures. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in network security, a keen understanding of current threats, and a proactive approach to safeguarding the network. Network Security Management: Configure and manage network security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and anti-virus systems. Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and potential threats. Incident Response: Respond to security incidents and breaches, conducting investigations and implementing solutions. Perform root cause analysis and document incident response activities. Security Audits and Assessments: Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in the network. Implementation of Security Policies: Develop and enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with IT teams to ensure secure network design and operations. Provide support and guidance to other staff on network security issues. Maintenance and Updates: Ensure network security hardware and software are up-to-date and patched. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of the network security infrastructure. Research and Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest security threats, trends, and technologies. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance the organization's security posture. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 3+ years of experience in network security or a related field. Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network protocols. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CCNA Security. Skills: Strong understanding of network security architecture and protocols. Proficiency with security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, anti-virus software, SIEM). Analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS). Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cloud security solutions. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation. Experience with security incident response and digital forensics.
