What you'll do: As a Data Scientist Intern in the Customer and Competitive Market Intelligence (CMI) group, you will bring the power of experience data to SAP in support of SAP corporate goals, including: to be #1 in Customer Satisfaction. You will help grow and optimize our customer and Partner experience measurement programs to deliver deeply impactful Experience Management (XM) insights to business stakeholders. Your primary responsibilities will include: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements for data integrations. Developing and implementing project plans for data engineering, analysis and visualization based on the needs of internal stakeholders. Training and supporting teams on data usage and results interpretation best practices. Developing and maintaining data engineering and analytic processes to support XM program targeting, analysis requirements and program expansion. Running statistical analysis using methods like correlation, ANOVA, regression. Applying Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompt engineering, to synthesize key insights Working with transformer-based models (e.g., BERT, GPT) for natural language processing tasks Troubleshooting technical issues related to data and systems in the SAP data warehouse and data lake environments. Identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance the efficiency and functionality of data engineering and analysis processes What you bring: We're looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stays curious. You like to work on meaningful, innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in an analytical field like Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, Marketing, Finance, or Social Science. Experience: Prior experience in data mining, advanced data manipulation, statistical analysis, and LLM processing, working with cloud-based computing platforms and big data tools. Technical Skills: Proficient in data engineering techniques, skilled in topic modeling and sentiment analysis of unstructured data, experienced in LLM prompt engineering to generate key insights from unstructured data, competence in statistical techniques such as correlation ANOVA, and regression, fluency in Python, SQL, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Databricks is helpful. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to undertake analyses, synthesize findings/recommendations, articulate a storyline, and create and conduct high-impact presentations. Independence: Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Interpersonal Skills: Superior interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships across SAP functional areas, geographies and hierarchical levels. Industry Knowledge: Base understanding of the software industry and its competitive landscape. Flexibility: Highest level of flexibility, integrity, and confidentiality.
