Software Engineer 1
TORC Robotics, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer 1 to be responsible for software development, including but not limited to, algorithm development, software design, implementation, unit testing, vehicle testing and deployed software maintenance while following quality, build, deploy and test processes, safety and process requirements and guidelines. Execute full software development lifecycle activities in Linux development environment using Lean-Agile methodologies. Complete software assignments including but not limited to software design, implementation, unit testing, vehicle testing and deployed software maintenance while following quality, build, deploy and test processes, safety and process requirements and guidelines. Assist in root cause analysis of issues found in testing and process automation steps. Support team in identifying daily assignments and reporting progress at daily stand ups. Support software and system level test plans and verification strategies to support ongoing feature development and bug fixes. Contribute to our state-of-the-art image management for autonomous trucks that deploys software and reprovisions operating system images on the vehicle. Communicate well in a team environment being able to clearly articulate progress, design expectations and support needed to help the team accomplish goals. The position requires Bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field with 1 year experience as Software Engineer or similar. Experience must include 1) programming skills in language(s) such as C/C++/Python/Go; 2) board bring-ups and developing embedded Linux operating systems using tools such as Yocto, Buildroot, and Buildstream; 3) Linux Kernel, device trees, and the boot process; 4) build systems and tools, including CMake, Make, and cross-compiler toolchains; 5) Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with experience in design, testing, implementation, and CI/CD practices; 6) Over-The-Air (OTA) update mechanisms. Position located in Austin, TX but eligible to work from anywhere in the U.S. 10% domestic travel required.
