Junior Database Developer

to support Littoral Combat Ship Squadron TWO (LCSRON TWO) in the design, development, and maintenance of custom databases used for tracking operational metrics, maintenance processes, personnel training, and logistics performance. This is a mission-critical role focused on optimizing how data is collected, shared, and analyzed within Navy readiness operations. SECRET CLEARANCE - REQUIRED Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Junior Database Developer will: Design, update, and maintain Microsoft Access and SQL-based databases to support operational and maintenance data collection. Collaborate with business analysts and SMEs to develop user-friendly interfaces, process flows, and back-end systems. Streamline existing spreadsheet-based data collection methods and migrate them into multi-user, secure, and scalable database systems. Provide technical support for ongoing improvements and data integrity initiatives. Create standardized queries and generate weekly/monthly reports, charts, and dashboards for leadership. Primary Duties Include but Are Not Limited To: Supporting the automation and standardization of 8 oclock reports across ship crews. Conducting cleanup and optimization of existing Microsoft Access databases, including those related to T2Q Sailor training. Developing and documenting process flows and new database structures within the first 30 days. Participating in twice-weekly team meetings and responding to ad-hoc tasking from the Chief of Staff and department heads. Education and/or Experience Required: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent technical experience). 3+ years of hands-on experience with database development (MS Access, SQL, SharePoint, VBA, HTML). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to troubleshoot user issues in real-time. Strong team collaboration and technical communication skills. Preferred: Familiarity with Navy operational data, ship readiness systems, or military logistics. Knowledge of Agile software development or Lean process improvement methodologies.
