ICMS is seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to provide aircraft maintenance services to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) for the Medium Range Surveillance (MRS) Product Line. To ensure that aircraft remain in top condition, ALC currently completes program depot maintenance (PDM) (described as a total overhaul of an airframe) every four (4) years on each of the USCG’s aircraft. During the overhaul process, any required repairs, modifications, and/or upgrades are also completed during this process. ALC may also complete overhauls and repairs for various other Government aircraft and components. In support of the USCG’s PDM program, the USCG requires Aircraft Maintenance Services (AMS) for aircraft, components, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and various other parts and components in support of USCG aviation. For this position, the specific aircraft that will be maintained will include the USCG HC-144 A/B and HC-27J.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

n

The primary responsibilities of the position will include but not limited to:

n
    n
  • Documents maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements
  • n
  • Maintains high state of cleanliness and utilizes a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties
  • n
  • Performs regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs
  • n
  • Maintains situational awareness and mitigate risks
  • n
  • Complies with processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense (DoD) documents and publications
  • n
  • Maintains and controls tools. Reports missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the site supervisor immediately upon discovery Inventory and inspect tools IAW ALC INST 13600.1 on a regular basis and identify when to replace worn or broken tools
  • n
  • Cleans work area as necessary, assuring all flammable or otherwise hazardous materials are properly stored; handles and disposes of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements
  • n
  • Complies with safety rules and procedures and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work area. Promptly report accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to the site supervisor
  • n
  • Uses Government computer system to access various technical references for airframe repairs and Government training requirements
  • n
  • Provides satisfactory customer service
  • n
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs GSE
  • n
  • Advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repairs of less complex repair/maintenance problems
  • n
  • Inspects and approves completed maintenance actions
  • n
  • Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications
  • n
  • Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and documents maintenance actions
  • n
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs GSE using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools
  • n
  • Maintains external fuel and grounding systems
  • n
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE
  • n
  • Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation
  • n
  • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications
  • n
  • Disassembles and assembles malfunctioning GSE accessories and components
  • n
  • Removes, disassembles repair, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE components and accessories
  • n
  • Stencils and marks GSE in accordance with technical publications
  • n
  • Stores, handles, labels, uses, and disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations
  • n
  • Prepares GSE for storage and mobility deployment
  • n
  • Operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles
  • n
  • In addition to maintaining vehicle records, maintain and update paper and electronic equipment records
  • n
  • Provide dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations
  • n
  • Practice good housekeeping in the GSE area
  • n
  • Practices tool control, FOD prevention, and safety at all times
  • n
  • Must be qualified to train other tenant commands as well as the MRS product line, including military, civilian, and company employees in the use of specific GSE equipment such as: forklift, scissor lifts and crane operations
  • n
  • Required to attend Train the Trainer for certification at Government expense
  • n
  • Coordinates with Base Garage on GSE, LSV and FUEL TRUCK maintenance requirement
  • n
  • Coordinates with Fuel Farm and Assist Military in fuel truck filling when needed.

Requirements:n

  • Shall be of the U.S.
  • n
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • n
  • Four (4) years of documented experience in industrial equipment maintenance support
  • n
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
  • n
  • Possess computer skills to include a basic knowledge sufficient to complete internet searches and prepare/edit documents utilizing word processing or spreadsheet applications
  • n
  • Shall be capable of using cumbersome Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Shall be capable of performing tasks that frequently require lifting, reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods of time
  • n
  • Shall be capable of performing tasks in cramped, awkward, and strained positions and/or climbing up and down ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, and aircraft structures
  • n
  • Shall be capable of carrying items up to 40 pounds and on heavier items shall seek assistance of other workers or weightlifting devices.
  • n

Full-time Day Shift: Monday-Friday, 6:45 am to 3:15 pm

n

Pay Rate: $41.77/hr.
