Position Purpose:
The Diesel Mechanic Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the safety of our associates. The technician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and overhauling our fleet of diesel equipment, ensuring all operations are safe and compliance standards are met.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and converter dollies under minimal supervision. This includes identifying the root cause of failures and conducting necessary repairs.
- Ensure all equipment has required licensing and registration before being deemed roadworthy.
- Complete thorough documentation for work orders related to repairs and preventative maintenance using our online Enterprise Asset Management system.
- Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other crucial parts, making replacements as needed to ensure proper operation.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication of equipment using both hand tools and power tools.
- Train and provide guidance to other mechanics, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or State Approved Equivalent required, along with 3-5 years of proven experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including preventative maintenance, tire and wheel repair, air brakes, diagnosis, electronic component repair, and refrigeration skills.
