QMS Engineer | Newport | Up to £30,000 (Part-Time, 3 Days/Week) | Permanent
The Opportunity
An award-winning global leader in the manufacture of railway vehicles, equipment, and components for railway systems is seeking a QMS Engineer to join their state-of-the-art, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales on a part-time basis (3 days per week).
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with international standards, while contributing to high-profile rail projects across the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain the site’s QMS in alignment with corporate policies and IRIS standards.
nLead internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of actions and compliance.
nMonitor and report on UK MNCRs, supporting the closure of actions with cross-functional teams.
nDevelop and manage a UK-based process review system and track improvement initiatives.
nLiaise with HQ to ensure alignment with corporate QMS documentation and participate in global process forums.
nProduce regular reports on QMS performance and quality initiatives.
nPromote a culture of quality across all departments and support the deployment of quality initiatives.
nEnsure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
nThe Candidate:
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Sciences, or a related field.
nProven experience in a quality or manufacturing role within a regulated industry.
nStrong knowledge of QMS standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IRIS, GMP).
nSkilled in quality tools such as 8D, CAPA, 5-Why, and root cause analysis.
nExperience with special processes (e.g., welding, bonding, torque tightening) is desirable.
nConfident in leading audits and delivering technical training.
nExcellent communication, organisation, and IT skills.
nProactive, methodical, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
nSpanish skills are a bonus but not essential.

Newport, South Wales (with occasional travel within the UK and Europe)
Salary:
Up to £30,000 (Part-Time, 3 Days/Week)
nEquivalent to £50,000 pro rata
