SUMMARY:Performs the functions of a Mammography Technologist under the general supervision of the Manager, Radiologic Technologist and according to established policies and procedures. The Mammography Technologist is expected to practice safe procedures and adhere to radiation safety measures.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Complete patient education regarding the exam and promote patient comfort.Perform diagnostic or screening mammograms, as ordered.Prepare for and assist the radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies.Produce high-quality films for the radiologist to evaluate.Perform quality control functions related to mammography.Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.Maintain a high degree of accuracy in mammography positioning and exposure techniques.BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to work as a member of a team.Continually sets the example of professionalism, flexibility, and high levels of patient care.Must possess general knowledge of equipment, equipment location, and vendors.Responsible for keeping the site manager informed of any equipment problems.EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a mammographerMust possess two (2) years of experience in performing mammography QA under the MQSA Standard.Must be ARRT registered and a graduate of Radiologic Technology Program.TOMO experience preferred.PER DIEM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:A per diem employee must meet the following requirements. If there are no shifts offered in any given month, the employee will not be penalized.Must be an external candidate to apply.Employee must work a minimum of 16 hours/month.Employee must pick up the entire posted shift*Employee must pick up at least 1 weekend shift/month.Employee must work at least 1 "holiday" weekend shift per year, which can be a day surrounding a holiday or a shift during peak vacation time.Employee must not refuse more than 2 shifts/month.To include:Refusing an open shift that causes a room closure or patient(s) cancellation.Cancelling a scheduled shift.*In modalities where compliance requires that two (2) techs be present, shifts must be picked up as they are posted.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day.May lift/position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds.Ability to move patients from scanner tables and transport patients in wheelchairs and/or stretchers.Ability to crouch, reach, and lift to allow appropriate manipulation positioning and placement of ancillary equipment.Will have exposure to high magnetic fields and cannot have any physical condition that would be aggravated by magnetic fields, acoustic noise, and occasional RF exposure.Ability to work in Zone 3 and Zone 4.Join an award-winning organization!
