We are seeking a visionary Battery Control & Algorithm Lead to join our elite team. In this pivotal role, you will empower and guide a group of engineers, spearheading the charge for Energy Storage & Power System (ESPS) Control, Algorithm, Modeling, and Simulation. You will be an indispensable part of the ESPS team, entrusted with the responsibility of delivering complete, end-to-end control and algorithm solutions for the battery, power distribution, BMS, and charging systems that will power the groundbreaking Wisk Gen 6 autonomous aircraft. This is a
hybrid
work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days.
What you will do: Lead and inspire a team of algorithm, control engineers in the full lifecycle development, review, and verification of cutting-edge energy storage and power systems, BMS, power distribution, charging, and power conversion. Serve as the foremost technical authority, providing domain guidance on critical areas such as control state machines, advanced state estimation, SOX estimation, and high-efficiency fast-charge algorithms, etc for safety critical applications Drive the development of BMS control features including but not limited to power modeling, contactor controls, fault management, diagnostic, prognostic, etc Orchestrate comprehensive simulation efforts in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, leveraging MIL, HIL, and data analysis to rigorously assess and optimize system performance. Champion seamless collaboration with diverse product teams, delivering robust and innovative offline and real-time solutions that power our autonomous aircraft. Strategically guide the team's endeavors by defining key goals, establishing clear deliverables, and ensuring flawless execution. Play a crucial role in supporting certification processes at both the aircraft and Energy Storage & Power System (ESPS) levels, ensuring compliance with the highest industry standards.
Requirements: 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience with battery algorithm, modeling and control design Strong knowledge in control system analysis and estimation algorithm design Simulation dynamic models of electrical systems Experience with BMS algorithm integration and validation Experience with both prototype and production battery and power system programs Coding skills in MATLAB, Python, C and C++ Strong communication and collaboration abilities Model-Based development experience
Desired: 2+ years experience in leading the algorithm, control development for program and 2+ years' management experience Aviation or Automotive industry experience Experience with electrical powertrain systems Experience with DO-331,DO-311A, DO-178C, DO-254, etc Knowledge of FAA, EASA regulation and guidance

Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $249,648 - $293,704 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
