SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
This position manages and oversees the school's athletic programs. The athletic coordinator should be familiar with the school community and have a strong interest in having their school's student participate in extracurricular activities. This position is critical to the success of IPS's athletic programs as they will help students figure out which sports they are interested in participating in as they progress into middle school, high school, and potentially further.
Persons in this position should be prepared and expected to complete the following tasks:
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Serve as school's primary point of contact for IPS district athletics department. Gauge student interest in sports offered by IPS district athletics department. Ensure school's families are aware of opportunities the school will offer. Secure coaches for sports of interest. Ensure coaches go through application process and are cleared through HR. Coordinate the collection and submission of rosters. Ensure transportation is coordinated for all school athletic events as needed. Coordinate gym use for practices and games. Secure game workers for home contests (gate worker, clock operators, scorekeepers, etc). Help enforce crowd control during home contest and escalate when necessary. Communicate with competing coordinators on game days. Coordinate with officials when hosting, including submitting officials pay forms. Make recommendations for improvement to the building principal and district administrator. Ensure adherence to district policies and league rules. Collect physical forms from participating student athletes as needed. Middle Schools Only - MS Coordinators may be required to schedule their own contests. Perform other duties as assigned by school principal and district athletics department.
